The Power of Words

Today's topic is about deconstructing basic communication. Not styles, but words themselves.

When I was 17, I was going to be a journalist. I took several classes, even worked for an actual, real newspaper. They taught us all about neutral and descriptive language. I had a teacher who, right after that lesson, began talking about abortion as "killing the baby." I pointed out that might be an example of emotional language, and she laughed and agreed. Possibly the only time EVER abortion has been a funny topic.
